Graduated from Evergreen HS in 2005. Was a first team All-State selection by the Tacoma News Tribune as a defensive lineman. He received first team 4A All-State honors as a defensive lineman from Associated Press as selected by sportswriters and broadcasters. The Seattle Times selected him to its All-State team and as a "White Chip" selection as one of the top 100 recruits in the state of Washington. He was also the Greater St. Helens League 4A Defensive Player of the Year and earned first team all-league honors as a defensive lineman. Evergreen finished the season 14-0 after defeating Skyline 28-14 in the championship game of the State 4A Playoffs. His EWU teammate Lonnie Hosley ('05) also attended Evergreen.
