A 2006 graduate of Shaker Heights High School (Ohio) high school coach was Dave Sedmak named the 2005 Lake Erie League Lineman of the Year named to the 2005 Cleveland Plain Dealer first-team All-County Team and was a second-team all-state choice his senior season was a first-team all-city, all-area, all-district and all-conference selection in 2005 selected to play in the Ohio vs. Pennsylvania Big 33 All-Star Game served as team captain his senior season helped lead his team to the Lake Erie League championship and state playoffs in both his junior and senior seasons also lettered in track, competing in the shot put and discus.
