Bradley Chubb

A three-year starter at N.C. State, Chubb played predominantly as the boundary defensive end in a three-point stance, seeing snaps on both the left and right sides of the line. He improved each season in Raleigh (both on tape and in the stat sheet), finishing his career with the school records for sacks and tackles for loss, breaking Mario Williams records. BACKGROUND A three-star defensive end recruit out of high school, Bradley Chubb, who is a descendant of the well-known Chubb family who founded Chubbtown, Ga. in the 1860s, missed most of his junior year at Hillgrove High School due to a knee injury, which concerned several of the colleges pursuing him. He was set to attend Michigan State (his only offer) until N.C. State entered the picture and Chubb elected to stay closer to home, committing to the Wolfpack. He spent most of his true freshman in the linebacker meeting room and on special teams before moving to defensive end as a sophomore where he started every game in 2015, posting 69 tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. As a junior, Chubb was elected a team captain and changed his jersey number to No. 9 to honor former N.C. State pass rusher Mario Williams. He finished the 2016 season fourth in the FBS in tackles for loss (22.0), adding a team-best 10.5 sacks to earn Wolfpack Defensive MVP honors. Pads tend to rise off the snap, losing point of attack leverage. Doesn't have elite get-off burst or edge speed to win the corner on pure athleticism alone, allowing offensive tackles to mirror him outside. Finds himself too far upfield often, taking himself out of the play. Deep defensive line rotation at N.C. State helped him stay fresh for all four quarters. Chubb isn't a quick-twitch speed demon off the edge who relies on athleticism alone, but he offers NFL-level acceleration and juice in his pursuit. He displays the combination of flexibility, length and hand use to consistently patch together an effective pass rush sequence, including insistent energy and power mid-rush to counter blockers.
