Where does Rutgers’ 2024 class rank compared to previous years?

Rutgers has pulled back its recruiting boundaries, opened up new pipelines and hopes its 2024 class continues to turn heads. While it’s still a long way to the early signing period, coach Greg Schiano has successfully put together what is shaping up to be one of his best classes ever.
Just how successful?
Without a five-star recruit it’s unlikely to reach the very top of Schiano’s tenure (2012), but it’s still trending towards becoming a game-changing class. Remember, recruiting rankings fluctuate often, but Rutgers — with 22 commitments so far — has remained on the boarder of a top 25-ranked class since landing multiple four-star pledges. That’s huge for a program that has an average ranking of 50.5 dating back to 2010.
Last week, we profiled the latest pledges in the class. The group includes four-star athlete Kaj Sanders, a in-state snag from Bergen Catholic High as well as K.J. Duff, a hybrid pass-catcher who is considered New York’s top-ranked recruit. With Duff’s commitment, Schiano has now landed the Empire State’s top-ranked recruit for the third year in a row. Rutgers previously landed linebacker Moses Walker in its 2022 class and wide receiver Ian Strong in 2023.
So as the latest dead period comes to a close next week, here’s exactly where the 2024 class currently stacks up and a look back at where Rutgers’ previous classes finished in the rankings. The data was pulled from 247sports.com and rivals.com, two of the major recruiting sites. While Rivals has ranked classes consistently since 2002, data only goes back to 2010 for 24/7.
