Big recruiting weekend for Rutgers football leads to trio of commitments for Class of 2024
Rutgers sports writer A big recruiting weekend for Rutgers football led to a trio of prospects becoming future Scarlet Knights. Greg Schiano and his program hosted 23 recruits on official visits from Friday to Sunday, the most in one weekend since his return to Piscataway. By the end of the weekend, the Scarlet Knights’ 2024 recruiting class grew by three players. Offensive lineman Raynor Andrews from Norland High School in Miami committed Saturday, one day before his teammates Tyclean and Tycoolhill Luman, twin defensive ends also from Norland, pledged to Schiano and Rutgers. The commitments mean that the Scarlet Knights now have 11 players in their 2024 recruiting class, which ranks 21st in the country and sixth in the Big Ten, according to 247Sports’ rankings. The weekend continued the momentum that Rutgers has gained on the recruiting trail in recent weeks. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Andrews picked the Scarlet Knights from an offer list that included Florida State, Colorado, Syracuse and West Virginia. He’s the second offensive lineman in the class, joining Delran’s Kenny Jones. The 6-foot-3, 239-pound Luman twins, originally from Canada, had a strong list of offers before heading to Piscataway for their official visits, a list that included Arkansas, Auburn, Louisville and Oklahoma. Tycoolhill Luman also had offers from Ole Miss, South Carolina and Minnesota, while Tyclean had an offer from Miami, among others. But in the end, Rutgers won out. It remains to be seen who will be next to join the Scarlet Knights’ 2024 recruiting class, but another large group of official visitors are set to head to Piscataway next weekend. The list is expected to include Camden Eastside defensive back Willy Love, Avon Old Farms (Connecticut) offensive lineman Jack Hines and Cardinal Mooney (Florida) cornerback Teddy Foster.
