Nebraska football's commitment craze continues with pledge from Evan Taylor
Nebraska football's recruiting weekend continues to turn more and more fruitful. Waxhaw (N.C.) athlete Evan Taylor became the latest recruit to join Nebraska's 2024 class after he announced his commitment to NU on Monday. Of the eight official visitors the Huskers hosted over the weekend, four have already committed to Nebraska. "It really just seemed like the perfect fit," Taylor said Monday night. He picked the Huskers over Rutgers and East Carolina, two school he'd visited earlier in June. "I really love what Coach Rhule has going on over there. The coaches are always striving to make the players and each other better on and off the field." Unlike others, though, it wasn't a camp that launched Taylor onto Nebraska's radar. NU defensive backs coach Evan Cooper extended an offer to Taylor in late May after seeing his highlight reel. "They really just found my tape by chance and they loved it and reached out to me," Taylor said. Taylor ran an 11.34-second 100-meter dash during his junior season, and that speed allowed him to impress at both wide receiver and cornerback. At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, Taylor moves quickly to close down space on the field. Nebraska believes in Taylor's potential as a defensive back, and it's why the three-star athlete is now the 13th commit in NU's 2024 recruiting class. "They like to keep their DBs versatile to play corner or safety," Taylor said. On Sunday, NU received defensive back commits from Braylen Prude and Callen Barta. The Huskers also have offers out to Omaha North's Donovan Jones — who visited the school Monday — and Westside's Caleb Benning, who visits this weekend.
