Jets’ Aaron Rodgers trolls vaccine supporters at US Open

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t a fan of COVID-19 vaccines. He made that clear at the US Open on Sunday when his Instagram Story went viral.
Rodgers posted an image of another anti-vaxxer, Novak Djokovic in action at the US Open. In it, Rodgers inserted a goat emoji with the hashtag “#NovaxDjokovic” above Djokovic mid-serve. The four-time MVP also crossed out an advertisement for Moderna in red.
Below Djokovic, Rodgers wrote: “Bucket list being able to witness the greatness of @djokernole in person at Arthur Ashe stadium.”
Rodgers, who is the NFL’s most outspoken anti-vaccine player, has been largely silent on the issue since being traded to the Jets in April. He found himself in the middle of a controversy after he wasn’t entirely truthful about his vaccination status in 2021.
He skirted around language in the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols, which required players to be vaccinated, saying he was “immunized” from the virus, but not clearly stating how. Afterward, NFL insider Ian Rapoport tweeted:
“#Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was quoted as saying he’s been ‘immunized.’ By the letter of the law in the NFL, that does not equal vaccinated.”
Rapoport later appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and said, “the team has known that Rodgers is not vaccinated according to the letter of the NFL law. They have known this for a very long time. Rodgers has been wearing a mask in the building. He has been following the COVID-19 protocols for those who are unvaccinated.”
As a result of his vaccination status, after testing positive, Rodgers was sidelined for a minimum 10 days. He missed Week 9 that season and the Green Bay Packers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 7-13, snapping a seven-game win streak.
The Jets QB better hope this doesn’t become an issue in New Jersey, where 94.9 percent of the population received at least one dose, according to the CDC.
