LSU’s Josh Williams on Alabama win: ‘It meant everything’

When Jayden Daniels found Mason Taylor for a do-or-die 2-point conversion in overtime to upset then-No. 6 Alabama on Nov. 6, it started something.
Yes, it secured a win for then-No. 15 LSU, which seized control of the SEC West race with 32-31 victory. It propelled the Tigers to so much more, according to Josh Williams.
The LSU running back was at SEC media days in Nashville on Monday and was asked what that win meant to Brian Kelly’s program in Baton Rouge.
“It meant everything,” he said. “Alabama’s our rival game. It was a big deal being in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. The way we won the game. Everybody running on the field and giving us momentum for the rest of the year. It really helped us push forward.”

LSU followed up the Alabama win with victories over Arkansas and UAB before falling to Texas A&M and Georgia (in the SEC title game) before beating Purdue in the Citrus Bowl.
The Alabama game, however, was one to remember.
Alabama (7-2, 4-2) began overtime with the ball and took a 31-24 lead on Roydell Williams’ second touchdown of the game.
Daniels ran for 25-yard touchdown in overtime and then found Mason Taylor for the win. Fans stormed the field after a game that included six second-half lead changes and a tying field goal by Alabama in the final 30 seconds.
