Baylor starting quarterback Charlie Brewer is in concussion protocol, leaving his status uncertain for Saturday's game against Oklahoma State. Brewer suffered the injury during the Bears' loss to West Virginia on Thursday, head coach Matt Rhule said Monday. Brewer, a sophomore, has been the starter during Big 12 play, but he played the worst game of his career on Thursday, completing just one of his eight passes for 22 yards with three interceptions. Senior Jalan McClendon, who had shared the quarterback position with Brewer during nonconference play, finished the game, completing 16 of 21 passes for 183 yards in an eventual 58-14 loss. McClendon has appeared in six of the Bears' eight games and his 21 pass attempts were a season high. It's not clear whether McClendon would start Saturday even if Brewer is medically cleared to play. Ruhle also said that freshman quarterback Gerry Bohanon might play Saturday. He can play up to four games this season without jeopardizing his redshirt season. For the season, Brewer ranks sixth in the Big 12 in passing efficiency, hitting 60.5 percent of his throws for 1,820 yards with 10 touchdowns against six interceptions. McClendon, a graduate transfer from North Carolina State, has completed 68.9 percent of his passes with three touchdown throws and one interception
