DL coach Board reportedly cut loose by Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll continues to overhaul his coaching staff.

The team announced on Tuesday that it let go four assistant coaches, and on Wednesday the Sporting News reported that assistant defensive line coach Dwaine Board will not be returning either.

Board was Seattle's defensive line coach from 2003 through 2008, then returned to the Seahawks in 2015 as an assistant defensive line. Board also spent time coaching with the Oakland Raiders (2009-10) and Cleveland Browns (2011-12).

Board, 61, was a three-time Super Bowl winner with San Francisco during a 10-year NFL career as a defensive lineman.

The Seahawks have made a number of coaching changes under Carroll, 68.

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is out, replaced by Brian Schottenheimer. Defensive coordinator Kris Richard is gone, replaced by Ken Norton Jr. Offensive line coach and assistant head coach Tom Cable is out, replaced by Mike Solari, and linebackers coach and assistant head coach Michael Barrow was fired.

According to the Sporting News, Seattle recently hired Clint Hurtt to replace Travis Jones as a defensive assistant coach.

Also, Dave Canales, the Seahawks' receivers coach, is expected to be named the team's quarterbacks coach, according to The Sporting News. Carl Smith, who has been the team's quarterbacks coach since 2011, might be reassigned within the Seahawks staff, according to reports.
