All-State Fairfield Prep DB Jon Morris commits to UConn

The UConn football program continues to add in-state talent. Fairfield Prep junior defensive back Jon Morris announced his commitment Tuesday to remain in Connecticut and play for Jim Mora's Huskies. Twitter — _jon_morris_ Twitter Morris was named to both the 90th New Haven Register All-State Football 2nd Team as a defensive back and the CHSCA Class LL/L All-State team as a defensive back. Morris is the newest UConn commit from the New Haven Register list, as he joins 2023 graduates Danny Shaban (Player of the Year), John Neider (Gatorade Connecticut Player of the Year) and Bloomfield's Howard Simpson (3rd Team). Standing at 6-2, 200 lbs, Morris led Fairfield Prep with 120 total tackles, 37 of which were solo. He helped take the Jesuits to the Class LL state title game at his future home stadium, Rentschler Field. Prep lost to Greenwich in the championship, but may not have even been there without Morris. In the quarterfinal against Staples with three seconds left, Prep led by one point. Morris knocked down a Staples’ pass on the goal line, forcing the Wreckers to attempt a game-winning field goal, which was missed.
