BECOMING A STANDOUT
As Brady Prieskorn prepares for his final high school football season at Rochester Adams in northern Metro Detroit, he does not have much left to prove as far as his talent on the football field is concerned. With a 247Sports Composite rating of 0.9611, Prieskorn is the 6th-best rated tight end in the country for the 2024 class.
However, the towering 6-foot-6, 235-pound Michigan commit was not always the highly-heralded prospect he is now. Thanks to a big performance on the state’s biggest stage, the final game of Prieskorn’s sophomore season changed everything.
“It was really crazy because that whole year I didn’t get the ball a lot,” Prieskorn said. “That game was something that set me apart from everything. It was crazy. It felt surreal.”
Back on Nov. 27, 2021, Adams and Prieskorn were fortunate enough to play Belleville in the Division 1 state championship game at Ford Field in Detroit. Although Belleville ended up winning a shootout, 55-33, thanks to a massive second half effort, Prieskorn managed to shine brightly in the loss with four catches for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He scored on plays of 56 and 33 yards in the game, finding the end zone in each half.
“I ended up having a really good game,” Prieskorn said. “I was getting better each game and had a really good game against Belleville and then all the offers started coming out.”
Until that point, Prieskorn was not sure if he wanted to pursue basketball or football in college. Thanks to a flood of football scholarship offers that poured in over the coming months after his big game, Prieskorn put all his focusing on playing football at the next level.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, this is something I want to do,’” he said. “That’s when it really clicked for me.”
As a junior last season, he led Adams in receiving with 24 receptions for 648 yards and 10 touchdowns in 10 games. Fifteen of his catches were for 20-plus yards and he averaged a whopping 27 yards per catch.

THE PATH TO ANN ARBOR
Before the state championship game, Prieskorn held an offer from Central Michigan. In the first couple months after the championship, he began piling on offers from all across the country.
“Every day, just calls and more phone calls,” Prieskorn said. “It was all the way up until like March, it was just offers probably two or three a week, maybe four.”
Entering the recruiting trail without any favorites in mind, Prieskorn said he viewed Michigan and Michigan State on the same level. The two schools even offered him just two days apart in January of 2022. Once he began embarking on his visits though, Michigan just kept finding a way to stand out among the rest.
“When I went to both schools, Michigan felt like the right move when I went there,” Prieskorn said. “All the coaches were really cool and I bonded really well with them. I knew I could get developed there with their strength and conditioning coach and all that. I feel like something special is going to happen there.”
Originally recruited by Jay Harbaugh when he was the Wolverines’ tight end coach, Prieskorn has since developed a bond with current tight ends coach Grant Newsome.
“We’ve just been talking all the time and we have a really good relationship,” Newsome said. “I’m close to all of them -- Bellamy, Hart -- they’re all really good dudes. Coach Harbaugh too.”
With Michigan making the college football playoff the last two seasons while gaining back-to-back wins over archrival Ohio State process, Prieskorn could sense a certain vibe among the Michigan players and staff that resonated with him.
On April 25 this year, Prieskorn made sure he could be a part of that vibe when he committed to Michigan.
“Their standards are always the same: beat Ohio State and win a natty, and that’s going to be the same when I go there,” Prieskorn said. “I want to keep beating Ohio State and win a natty.”
Prieskorn believes he is part of a special Wolverines recruiting class and he can’t wait to display his skills at the Big House in the fall of 2024. One of a nation-leading 19 four-star recruits committed to the Wolverine’s 2024 class, Prieskorn doesn’t expect Michigan to fall out of the national spotlight while he is in Ann Arbor.
“I think this class is something special,” Prieskorn said. “All those guys, I really like. When I went on my (official visit), we connected really good with each other. I think we’re going to do something special there at Michigan, maybe win a national championship.”

SOME UNFINISHED BUSINESS
As excited as Prieskorn is about his future at Michigan, Prieskorn currently funnels most of his energy into finishing off his high school season on a high note. After falling just short of a state title as a sophomore, Prieskorn wants to chase the trophy with everything he’s got this fall.
“You know, I’m really excited to get after it,” Prieskorn said. “Usually, the senior year is the biggest one of all of them. I just want to make the best of it... Expectations have always been the same. They’re always to win and get better each game. There are some expectations but I really just put those aside and have fun.”
Boasting a wingspan that Prieskorn said is between 6-foot-9 and 6-10, he said he is working on getting faster. Prieskorn said he was laser-timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.7, which will put him on average with what tight ends do at the NFL combine.
Working hard to live up to his four-star status, Prieskorn finds validation in being considered one of the best in the country.
“It feels really good, you know?” Prieskorn said. “I’ve been working my whole life just to be this. I just got to keep going and get better.”
If at any point he starts buying into his own hype a bit too much, he also has someone to bring him back down to Earth. Prieskorn’s older brother, Caden Prieskorn, played football and won a state title at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s as a quarterback. Caden Prieskorn then went on to play at Fork Union Military Academy before transferring to Memphis and becoming a tight end. This season he will be a tight end at Ole Miss.
Caden Prieskorn scratched and clawed his way to becoming a starter in all 13 games for Memphis the season, totaling 48 receptions for 602 yards and seven touchdowns. Brady Prieskorn said his older brother will not let him take his opportunities for granted.
“He’s been a really big help,” Brady Prieskorn said. “His path wasn’t the same as mine. I have a lot more (offers) than he did. He had to work a lot harder because he really didn’t get a lot. He motivates me a lot just to keep working and don’t be complacent. Just keep working. That’s what he says to me all the time. He’s been a really a good help and motivation to me during this process.”
Knowing more eyes will be on him now that he is committed to Michigan, Prieskorn is ready to show his worth.
“I’ve gotten a lot faster and a lot stronger,” Prieskorn said. “Just getting better every day. This past year has been a grind and I’m ready to get after it in the season and show what I’ve been working on.”
