Florida football coach Billy Napier updates status of LB Shemar James, CB Devin Moore
Gainesville Sun
Florida football coach Billy Napier offered updates on the status of linebacker Shemar James and cornerback Devin Moore entering week two of fall camp.
James suffered an apparent leg injury in the first week of Florida Gators fall camp, while Moore did not take part in Saturday's open practice at The Swamp due to an upper body injury.
"Shemar is probably a week to 10 days," Napier said. "I would say, if that makes sense. We'll probably err on the conservative side. But he's already made significant progress."
Moore, Napier said, is in return to play protocol.
"Should be a couple of days here and he'll be back," Napier said. "Just an upper-body injury there but he'll be back and ready to go soon."
James earned All-SEC freshman honors last season after recording 47 total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in 13 games last season. Moore is competing for the starting job at cornerback with junior Jalen Kimber and true freshmen Ja'Keem Jackson and Dijon Johnson.
Napier said if there's a silver lining to the injuries, it's allowed different players to get more reps at both position groups.
"It really helps you evaluate depth and it presents opportunity," Napier said,
