Tennessee's Pruitt: S Flowers (collarbone) out few weeks

Tennessee safety Trevon Flowers will be sidelined for a few weeks with a broken collarbone, coach Jeremy Pruitt said. Per Pruitt, Flowers was injured while diving for an interception during practice last week. "He'll be back in a few weeks. It's unfortunate for him because he really had improved in the last two or three weeks and had a great off-week this past week," Pruitt said, via the Knoxville News Sentinel. Flowers started Tennessee's season-opening loss to West Virginia. He has nine tackles this season. The loss of the 5-foot-11 Flowers comes at an inopportune time, as the Volunteers (2-3, 0-2 SEC) are in the midst of four consecutive contests against teams currently ranked in the Top 25. Sophomore Theo Jackson is expected to receive more playing time in the absence of Flowers. Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson have seen significant action behind senior safety Micah Abernathy and Nigel Warrior. Todd Kelly Jr. could also be an option, but Pruitt said the fifth-year senior is still working his way back from injuries. Kelly made his 2018 debut with a special-teams appearance against Georgia. Tennessee is returning from its open date to visit No. 21 Auburn (4-2, 1-2) before hosting No. 1 Alabama on Oct. 20.
