Recent Deonte Banks Notes
Deonte Banks
OVERVIEW
Summary: A feisty fighter with elite speed and jumping ability, Banks is mentally and physically ready to challenge even the top NFL receivers. He gave a glimpse of that against Ohio State, and 2024 top-five wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. At 6-0, 197, Banks burned through 40 yards in 4.35 seconds and showed his explosiveness with jumps of 42 inches in the vertical and 11 feet, four inches in the broad. He is aggressive to a fault with five pass interference and two holding penalties in 2022. Career stats seem a bit anemic with 13 total passes defensed — nine last season — and only one interception. Was knocked out of 2021 season with a serious shoulder injury, but came back last year after surgery.
FRANKLY: This draft has at least 15 players capable of playing the difficult position of cornerback in the NFL. Banks is one of the top three or four, thanks especially to his extraordinary physicality, attitude, speed and jumping ability. Looks like a late first- or early second-round pick.
